Curriculum

Carla Balocco, Associate Professor of Environmental Applied Physics at the University of Florence, holds a Master degree in Architecture (1991; IUAV University Institute of Architecture of Venice) a PhD in Energy Engineering at the Department of Industrial Engineering (1995; University of Florence), and a Post PhD degree in Energy at the Department of Environmental Physical Chemistry (1999, University of Siena), and a post PhD degree at for Studies, processing, verification and implementation of LIDAR data, georeferenced (GIS) by statistical data/information for the forecast of the energy needs of differently built up urban and green areas. Expert in building-plant thermo-physics; energy sustainability and green regeneration/integration (e.g. nature based solutions) at urban and building-plant system scale, indoor air quality and controlled mechanical ventilation; solar radiation control; well-being and human health, cultural heritage conservation and enhancement.

Her main indicators are:

  • Author of about 200 publications on Scientific Int. Journals and Open Access Int.J. (h index, Scopus, 16)
  • Lecturer of 11 academic courses and modules since 2006 (e.g. Thermodynamics and Heat and Mass Transfer, Energy Design, Civil technical plant-system, Environmental and energy assessment of building-plant systems, Lighting Engineering and Lighting Design).
  • Participation and communication at national and international congresses (more than 70 communications).
  • Supervisor of university theses (three-year, specialist and master’s in Engineering and Architecture Faculties); guiding teacher and co-rapporteur of doctoral theses in Engineering and Architecture Faculties.
  • Lecturer in three different advanced training courses (Masters of II level) since 2004.
