Admission

All the information regarding admission into the OPD Higher Education School (SAFS – Scuola di Alta Formazione e Studio) for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.

Admission to the OPD Higher Education School (SAFS) is determined by means of a public international selection process, announced yearly by the Ministry of Culture, which identifies the vocational tracks open to candidates

Each year, the international competition is announced for admission to one or two Professional Training Programs (PFP), selected on a rotating basis, for up to a maximum of 10 students.

Admission Requirements

  • To apply for the competition for admission to the Higher Education School it is necessary to have a five-year high school diploma, or a four-year diploma plus one supplementary year.
  • EU and non-EU citizens can participate in the competition.

Attendance is mandatory. As a partial reimbursement of expenses, students are required to pay a fee for each year of the course, under terms established by the Higher Education School Management.

Exam process

The admission exam is composed of the following tests:

  • A preliminary interview in Italian, reserved for non-Italian native speakers;
  • A drawing test designed to assess the candidate’s skill and manual aptitude in depicting an artefact of historical and artistic interest.
  • A practical aptitude test assessing the candidate’s colour/depth sensitivity through tests differentiated by vocational track.
  • An oral test ascertaining the candidate’s knowledge in various fields: art history, techniques of execution and constituent materials of artefacts relating to the chosen track, basic principles of earth sciences, biology, chemistry, and physics, and the English language through the oral translation of a passage.

To participate in the drawing test and the practical aptitude test candidates are required to pay a fee as a reimbursement of expenses.
