The monumental vase can be considered as one of the last demanding tasks of the workshop.
Conceived as a demonstration of the imaginative fantasy and technical virtuosity of the Opificio, the vase was created between 1882 and 1892 after Edoardo Marchionni’s design.
The decoration of the sinuous vase matches the black Belgian marble with hard stones inlays, for the first time made on a convex surface.
The ornamental vase remained uncompleted. It was no longer time for such spectacular artworks. The Opificio abandoned the era of the production to dedicate exclusively to restoration
