Two Roman landscapes

Descrizione opera

View of the Pantheon

This Florentine mosaic picture, realized around 1797 after a pictorial model by Ferdinando Partini, belongs to a series of six Roman landscapes made for Palazzo Pitti. The successful transposition of the model into hard stones is due to an accurate choice of chalcedonies and the use of petrified wood.

View of Cecilia Metella’s tomb This small picture also belongs to the same series from models by Ferdinando Partini, although the present artwork was made in 1860 after the donation of the original artwork on behalf of Leopold II to pope Pius IX, on the occasion of his visit to Florence in 1857.
