Two panels with birds on a branch

Descrizione opera

These two small panels with a bird perched on the branch of a fruit tree were made at the beginning of the seventeenth century. They clearly express the naturalistic spirit characterizing the production of the court workshop. The two panels are made with soft stones on a black marble background and show the ingenious chromatic versatility of this kind of stones. They represent the most common version of this subject, that could be used as a wall picture, mounted in a frame. More frequently, they were placed as decorative elements on cabinets or boxes.
