The single-cycle degree course is worth 300 credits and lasts five years. It comprises theoretical lectures and technical learning activities that take place within the institute’s laboratories.
The technical activities of the Training program are more than 60% of the duration of the courses and are carried out on artefacts qualifying as cultural heritage. These activities are integrated with work sites, internships and specialized seminars.

L’area comprende più categorie di manufatti, eterogenei per caratteristiche materiche e per tipologie tecniche. Allo scopo di fornire allo studente una panoramica più possibile ampia, completa ed approfondita delle singole problematiche, il corso è articolato in tre settori:

Conservation issues are approached by providing students with a wide case study of artworks, in order to provide a solid historical, technical and chemical-physical knowledge of the materials, their use and various typological categories, as well as the different methods of intervention.
The laboratory program also includes technical-practical experiences on work sites, aimed at the study of preventive and planned conservation of public and private collections, diagnostic investigations concerning materials and techniques and permanent or temporary exhibition system – fundamental topics for an in-depth study of conservation issues and in dealing with complex operational aspects.

How to access

Admission requirements

To apply for the competition for admission to the OPD Higher Education School it is necessary to have a five-year high school diploma, or a four-year diploma plus one supplementary year. EU and non-EU citizens can participate in the competition.

Competition

Admission to the OPD Higher Education School is through an open international competition, announced each year by the Ministry of Culture, indicating the professional training programs for which one can apply.
Attendance is mandatory. As a partial reimbursement of expenses, students are required to pay a fee for each year of the course, in accordance with terms established by the Higher Education School Management.
As determined by legislation (“Disposizioni in materia di iscrizione contemporanea a due corsi di istruzione superiore” GU Serie Generale n.98, 28-04-2022), since 13/05/2022 it is possible to be enrolled in two degree programs.
Specific statutes issued by the Ministry of Culture will regulate the contemporary enrolment, as foreseen in article 1 of the law before mentioned.
