Information on the activity

The Laboratory

Location

The laboratory of the murals paintings and stucco decorations department is located in the large spaces on the ground floor of the OPD headquarters at the Fortezza da Basso; however, the department’s activity is mostly performed on external sites due to the nature of the artworks.

History

The department was established in 1976, when a group of private restorers who had been working on prestigious projects under the renowned restorer Dino Dini were integrated into the Opificio at the Fortezza da Basso.

Restoration activity, research, training

Accounting for Dini’s tradition, modernised with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, complex cases have been undertaken, developing a methodology for a broad range of deterioration and conservation problems.

The department is often consulted by national and international entities and participates in conferences and theoretical and practical training held in various countries. The department’s worksites often host trainees from all over the world along with students from the OPD Higher Education School. The department has also actively participated in many international conferences and study days.
