Conservative Restoration Officer
Restoration department: canvas and panel paintings
Arianna Ingrassia obtained her secondary school diploma in 2009 with a specialisation in Survey and Cataloguing of Cultural Heritage from the Liceo Artistico Leon Battista Alberti in Florence. In 2015 she graduated from the School of Advanced Training and Studies of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (single-cycle master’s degree LMR/02), Professional Training Pathway 2, with a dissertation entitled *”Misure e segni. Curvature”* by Bice Lazzari: preliminary study, restoration project and conservation treatment, supervised by Oriana Sartiani, Marco Ciatti, Giancarlo Lanterna, Mattia Patti and Luciano Pensabene Buemi.
Following her collaboration on the restoration of the monumental Italian Memorial at Auschwitz by Pupino Samonà, she has been a conservator officer at the MiC since December 2018. Having initially served at the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Provinces of Pisa and Livorno, she is now based in the Paintings on Canvas and Panel department of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, where she carries out conservation and research work and teaches at the School of Advanced Training. She is currently working on the restoration of the panel painting *Saint Anthony of Padua* by Cosmè Tura, a masterpiece of the Gallerie Estensi in Modena.
In 2023 she completed a PhD in History of the Arts and Performing Arts at the University of Florence (curriculum: Technologies, Conservation and Restoration of Artistic and Performing Arts Heritage), with a dissertation entitled *”La questione è quella della pittura, della pittura e del dipingere”. Pittura Analitica: Studio dei materiali, delle tecniche e analisi dei processi di degrado*, supervised by Mattia Patti. The research, focused in particular on the techniques and materials used by the artists Giorgio Griffa, Claudio Olivieri and Pino Pinelli, included an extensive diagnostic campaign on the works *Diacrome* and *Tela*, from the Museo della Città di Livorno and made by Olivieri and Griffa respectively, and the complex restoration of the work *Tela*.
