Curriculum

An architect with extensive experience in the public administration, in 2010 he embarked on a career as an officer at the Ministry of Culture, having previously obtained his degree and PhD and practised as a freelance architect for ten years. He specialises in the restoration of monuments. Since 2022 he has broadened his areas of competence, working at the Department of Civil Protection of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Over the years he has worked in a variety of professional contexts, serving at different offices of the administration (Cagliari, Pompei, Caserta, Campobasso).

His activities have included, among others: chairing and serving on tender committees, competitions, assessment panels and testing commissions; design and direction of public works; single procedure manager for public interventions; head of functional areas; member of technical committees and delegate at inter-institutional working tables.

A constant commitment to research and knowledge transfer has always been central to his work: he taught Restoration at the University of Naples Federico II for many years as a contract lecturer. Since 2016 he has taught Drawing for Restoration at the School of Advanced Training of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence as course leader.

He delivers conferences and seminars and is the author of several books and numerous articles on the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage. His research has been the subject of two documentaries, one distributed internationally and produced by National Geographic (*Bombing Pompeii*), and the other produced by the Politecnico di Torino (*I crateri di Pompei*).

Particular attention is devoted to extended public access: the major works projects he has coordinated or directed — which have received, since 2016, five ministerial visits — have always been oriented towards ensuring high levels of accessibility, drawing on his experience as accessibility coordinator at the archaeological site of Pompeii.

He is a contact for the specialist journals *Confronti*, *Opus* and *Lexicon*.
