Curriculum

Francesca Toso graduated in Art History from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Florence and in 2000 obtained her diploma in Cultural Heritage Conservation from the SAFS of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, specialising in the restoration and conservation of mosaics, pietre dure inlay and scagliola. Following many years in freelance practice with repeated appointments at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and in particular at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, since 2010 she has been a member of staff at the Ministry of Culture and works at the Opificio in the Mosaic and Pietre Dure Inlay Conservation Department, where, in addition to conservation work and teaching at the SAFS, she pursues study and research in the conservation of mosaic, the ancient technique of Florentine pietre dure inlay and scagliola. Since October 2024 she has been technical director of the Mosaic and Pietre Dure Inlay Conservation Department. She is the author of numerous scholarly contributions.
