1993 — Degree in Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, University of Florence.
1996 — Advanced course in “Science for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage”, Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, University of Florence.
2001 — PhD in Science for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, University of Florence.
Since 2000 he has been a chemist officer at the Scientific Laboratory of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure. He has participated in numerous diagnostic investigations on works of art within conservation projects carried out by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure’s restoration departments, with a particular focus on the characterisation of constituent materials and deterioration processes in metal, glass and stone objects. He has also taken part in national and international research projects on cultural heritage conservation.
He is the author of over 150 publications in the field of science applied to the study and conservation of cultural heritage.
