An archaeologist, she graduated from the University of Florence and holds a PhD (third cycle) in Greek and Roman Archaeology from the University of Naples. She subsequently obtained a second master’s degree in archaeology and completed the executive master’s programme in “Economics of Culture: Policy, Governance and Management” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Since 1990 she has served as an archaeologist officer at the Ministry of Culture, working in various regional offices and gaining extensive experience in the protection and management of cultural heritage. Since 2015 she has been a member of staff at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, where she has held a number of different roles.
As head of the Cross-departmental Archaeological Materials Service, she participates in the design and direction of conservation projects on archaeological objects in collaboration with specialists both within and outside the Institute. Between 2018 and 2020 she coordinated the restoration of the bronze statue of the Winged Victory of Brescia.
She has been Director of the OPD School of Advanced Training and Studies since November 2023, having previously served as deputy director and course leader in Classical Archaeology (L-ANT/07) from the 2011–12 to the 2018–19 academic year. From 2019–20 to 2022–23 she was course leader in Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration (L-ART/04). In 2020–21 she was co-lecturer for the course in Elements of Administrative Law and Cultural Heritage Legislation (IUS/10).
She also heads the Mosaic and Pietre Dure Inlay Conservation Department, and in 2018 was co-curator of the exhibition *Pietre colorate molto vaghe e belle. Arte senza tempo dal museo dell’Opificio delle Pietre Dure*, dedicated to the history of the Medici-Lorraine manufactory of which the present-day Opificio can be considered the heir.
She has also taught on courses for continuing professional development and specialisation at the MiC, the University of Florence (School of Specialisation in Archaeology) and the University of Siena (second-level master’s in Preventive Archaeology and first-level master’s in Archaeological Conservation). At the University of Siena she held a contract professorship for the course “Protection, Conservation and Enhancement of Archaeological Heritage”.
In recent years she has presented at numerous conferences, seminars and study days, with particular reference to cultural heritage conservation.
In the area of research, she is the author and co-author of numerous scholarly contributions, many of which are dedicated to presenting restoration projects she has personally coordinated.
