Conservative Restoration Officer
Restoration department: polychrome wooden sculptures
A conservator-restorer specialising in the restoration of paintings on wooden and textile supports, wooden sculpture and objects in synthetic materials, worked, assembled and painted (competence sectors 3, 4 and 5), in 2011 she graduated with distinction (L/41) in Technologies for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage from the University of Urbino, with a dissertation on the study of film-forming substances applied over paintings on canvas and panel. At the same institution she was admitted to the five-year degree programme qualifying graduates as professional conservators in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (LMR/02), graduating with distinction in 2014 with an experimental dissertation on the investigation of alternative materials in the anchoring system of canvas paintings. She broadened her knowledge by attending a training course (promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region) on the conservation challenges of nitrate and cellulose triacetate film, at the conservation laboratory of the Cineteca di Bologna, where she was able to collaborate with specialists in chemical treatments and study the use of essential oils for the cleaning of supports. She went on to specialise in the use of aqueous systems and emulsions for the removal of film-forming substances and the cleaning of contemporary objects (acrylic, alkyd and vinyl binders and fresh oils). She is currently enrolled in the School of Specialisation in Historical and Artistic Heritage at the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna.
In her professional activity she has collaborated primarily with private institutions, working as a practitioner or consultant on cleaning-related challenges.
Having succeeded in the most recent MiC (formerly MiBAC) competition, since 2018 she has been a member of staff at the Ministry as a conservator officer in the Wooden Sculptures department of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, where she works primarily on cleaning treatments. She also teaches at the School of Advanced Training of the same institute, where she teaches “Gilding Techniques” (first year) and “Cleaning Techniques for Paintings on Canvas, Panel and Wooden Sculptures” (third year).
