Raffaella Fontana graduated in Physics from the University of Florence, where she obtained a PhD in Non-Destructive Testing and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Physics. Since 2020 she has been a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Optics of the National Research Council (CNR-INO), where her research focuses on the development and application of non-invasive optical techniques for the diagnostic investigation of works of art. She is the author of more than 100 publications in the field of physics applied to the study and conservation of cultural heritage.
