Curriculum
Barbara Cattaneo is a conservator of paper and photographic materials (sectors 9 and 10) at the OPD. Since 2019 she has been an associate researcher at IFAC–CNR within the “Memoria Fotografica” project. Currently a doctoral candidate in Art History at La Sapienza, she holds degrees in Cultural Heritage Sciences and Archival and Library Sciences. She was selected to participate in the JPC 2012 (Tokyo, ICCROM/Tobunken) and in the Advanced Topics in Photograph Conservation courses in 2014 and 2015 (Budapest and Prague, Getty Conservation Institute). She has undertaken research and internship periods at Trinity College Dublin and the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. She has taught “Restoration of Photography” at the OPD, Fondazione Alinari and ICRCPAL, and “History of Photography and Identification of Techniques” at the School of Specialisation in Historical and Artistic Heritage at the University of Florence – SAGAS. She has delivered numerous seminars on the same subjects at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, the University of Udine, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna and at Brera, and the University of Eastern Finland. She is also a founding member and volunteer trainer of FOTONOMIA, a photographic culture association.
She has a substantial record of publications, including the editorship of *Il restauro della fotografia, materiali fotografici e cinematografici, analogici e digitali*, published by Nardini in 2012.
