Curriculum

Andrea Cagnini holds a PhD in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Florence and has worked since 2005 as a scientific specialist at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure. As head of the non-invasive investigations department of the Opificio’s Scientific Laboratory, he has over the years developed expertise in the identification of constituent materials and deterioration products in works of art. He has participated in national and international research projects on the application of new diagnostic methodologies and the evaluation of innovative conservation treatments for works of art. He has taught scientific subjects at the Institute’s School of Advanced Training, of which he is also Associate Director. He is the author of more than 100 publications in the field of cultural heritage conservation.
